As part of the International Conference of Asia-Pacific Planning Societies 2026 (ICAPPS 2026), the Special Parallel Session “Smart Planning with Nature and People” explored how technology, nature, spatial data, and community participation can work together to shape more inclusive and resilient cities.

The discussion highlighted that smart planning goes beyond the use of technology. It requires collaborative governance, environmental awareness, local knowledge, and meaningful public participation. By integrating these elements, cities can become more responsive to community needs, resilient to future challenges, and better connected to their surrounding regions.
