Landscape Planning for an Agro-Creative and Productive Thematic Village – Kampung Lauk
Citieslab conducted a landscape planning study for Kampung Lauk, located in Bubulak, West Bogor, to establish a concept framework for developing the area as a thematic village rooted in agro-based local potential and community empowerment. The study produced a strategic landscape planning document to guide the Bogor City Government in shaping Kampung Lauk’s future development as a productive, educational, and environmentally sustainable urban village.
The study identified strong local assets, including fish farming along irrigation canals, trigona honey cultivation, poultry farming, and community-led urban agriculture. Existing educational activities such as fish feeding, beekeeping, and agro-education provide a foundation for thematic development. However, several spatial and environmental challenges were also observed, including limited public facilities, lack of wayfinding and visitor infrastructure, underutilized agro-production potential, and environmental risks related to river and drainage conditions.
Based on these findings, the proposed concept envisions Kampung Lauk as an “Agro-Creative, Productive, and Environmentally Sustainable Village.” The framework emphasizes the integration of agro-education tourism, community spaces, canal-oriented public areas, and local economic zones. Spatial interventions focus on improving environmental quality, strengthening the village’s visual identity, and creating multifunctional spaces that support both daily community activities and visitor engagement.
This concept positions Kampung Lauk as a community-driven thematic village where local resources, environmental stewardship, and economic activities are integrated into a cohesive spatial and development strategy, ensuring long-term sustainability and strengthening the village’s role as a productive and educational urban landscape.
